At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

He doesn't know whether George May Powell wants a recommendation or a criticism, but he found the lecture and pictures interesting, although at times it was difficult to understand what was being said for many reasons. The exhibition contained a great deal of information, though it was hard for a child to comprehend. The entertainment was pleasing and instructive.
