Declines an invitation to visit with The Temperance Societies of Washington due to a prior engagement. Compliments the Societies' work by stating that "the recollection of the Friends of the Temperance in Washington, being amongst the earliest to encourage me to leave Ireland, is an additional inducement to make me fulfil [sic] my long promised intention of witnessing the result of their exertions..."
