Signed by Lee. Vannerson portrait taken for Edward V. Valentine, a Virginia sculptor studying in Berlin, to make a statue of Lee to sell for the benefit of the Confederate States of America in Liverpool, UK. A copy went through the blockade. Thought to have been signed for a relative or close friend.
