Also signed by Charles Parson, William Burch, Henry Hudson, and one other ("J. Wm. [illegible]"), all at the Customs House in Boston. Appointed by "the Commissioners for managing & causing to be levied his Majesties Customs and other Duties in America." Also outlines the duties of Irving's new position. A note on the verso signed by Fra. Bernard dated 15 April 1768 confirms that Irving took the oath of office. Irving was later a controversial figure involved in investigating the Boston Tea Party. Autograph note on second page signed by Anne De Visme and dated 12 November 1792 states that she received of Prevost 260 pounds, 19 shillings by the hands of Aaron Burr. Document states that Prevost is of the 60th Regiment (in the British army).

A note on the verso indicates what was seized and when the writ was recorded at the secretary's office in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.

Partially printed order to pay 1500 pounds for Angier's "Sufferings in the year 1759 - as mentd in his Petn." Authorized by order of the governor, Sir Francis Bernard. Cotton was then deputy secretary and would become secretary to the Stamp Act Congress the following year.
