Writes to Governor of Mississippi Poindexter to introduce Rev. Austin Dickinson. In 1819 Dickinson was delegated by the Synod of Tennessee to raise funds to build a theological seminary in Tennessee; he is sure that Poindexter both will give Dickinson aid and will inform him of the best means of promoting support from "the citizens of the state" over which he presides. Jackson became Governor of the Florida Territory in 1821. He was President of the United States from 1829 to 1837.

Legal document by attorney John Ker who served as petitioner for Antonio Vela, a citizen of Louisiana, in the County Court of Adams County, Mississippi. The petition was showing the court "That on or about the first day of April 1828 he [Vela] was possessed of a certain negro man called Peter. That the said negro ran away about the time above mentioned." Says Peter was captured and jailed under the assumed name Harrison in Adams County. This tour echoed the famous tours of America President George Washington made in 1789 and 1791. The tour inaugurated what is known as the Era of Good Feelings. This letter expresses pleasure at the respectful greeting he had in Saco, Massachusetts, in the District of Maine (Maine did not join the Union as a separate state until 1820). States that the Mangoree reported herself on 28 December 1816 in the Baltimore port. During the war Jones wooed and married Maxine Harris. The collection reveals less about the war than the trials of two newlyweds.
