Captain Joshua Bragdon's Company was in Colonel James Scammons's 30th Regiment of Foot in the Continental Army. Captain Joshua Bragdon is referred to as the "Late Cap. Joshua Bragdon", and it appears to be noted that he resigned on August 19th. Lists the names of commanding officers, corporals, drum and fife, privates, and casualties. Docket reads: "Brother David with an account of the proceedings of the Mob at London," referring to the Gordon Riots.

Relays an account that the Americans under Nathanael Greene and the Marquis de Lafayette landed 18,000 troops in Rhode Island. Describes a near naval engagement with Lord Howe that was prevented by a hurricane, which damaged the ships. General George Clinton then reinforced Rhode Island with 4,000 men. Receipt written by Captain Titcomb for moving his company of 53 men. The company was in Colonel Jacob Garrish's regiment. Titcomb's men were stationed at Winter Hill, which is outside Boston, to guard the Convention Army, which consisted of captured British soldiers from the Saratoga Campaign. His men are being paid mileage. 27 of his men marched from Winter Hill to Amesbury, which is 50 miles, and received over 16 pounds. 26 of his men marched from Rowley to Amesbury, a distance of 35 miles, and received over 11 pounds. Apologizes for the short letter, but business and the impatience of Webb's brother, who is going to deliver the letter, forced him to write quickly.
