Saw a letter from Alexander Hamilton to George Washington and the Directors of the Branch Banks "that Genl Schuyler has a credit for 3500 Dollars for the purchase of goods for the use of the Six Nations." Has written to Schuyler, who is unaware of this situation, "but promises to give me the business if it comes under his direction." Offers his services to Knox. Heard rumors of one or two frigates being built in New York. Recommends Captain Anthony Rutgers for the superintendency of the work.
