12 October 1790
Tyler, George, fl. 1790
Autograph letter signed
Title: to Henry Knox
Reminds Knox of a meeting the two men had in Boston in which they discussed Tyler's "disagreeable circumstance of...being prosecuted by Mr. John Lee the collector of the United State's revenue for Penoscot district." Tyler asked Knox to speak to the Secretary of the Treasury (Alexander Hamilton). Tyler is fighting charges that he did not properly pay duties on rum and sugar. In order that Knox not forget the details of the case, Tyler relates the situation to him. "Free" stamped on address leaf with no signature.
