One letter from Sayord Stone to Richard Jerome Silbiger, dated March 13, 1944. Sayord writes that he is doing well and he has really found his place in the army. He is a member of the signal corps band and is stationed in Monmouth. Ricky and he have just got a house off base. Ricky has a job on the base. He is off every day at 5:05 p.m. and can go home every night. He has to be at roll call at 7:30 a.m. and at 8:30 a.m. the band rehearses until 10:00 a.m.. At 12:30 p.m. they play some marches for the guys going to classes, after that nothing until 5:00 p.m. when they play the national anthem…
