Smith, Albert, 1793-1867
Autograph letter signed
Title: to Aaron Hobart
States that he is "pleas'd with a view of the finances of our country, & am confident they will improve progressively." Notes that Mr. Winslow is in Columbus, and that there was some "excitement & rumours as to his movements in his business in the north." Mentions the death of J. Wing, Deacon Brooks, and Thomas Stirson, but notes that the people of the area are generally in good health. On religion, he writes: "your Minister in Holy things makes a dash now & then (at what he calls Infidells) & then smooths all over with a plaister."
