Title: [Copy of statement of fact in the case of United States vs. George Tyler]
A copy of a statement concerning the United States v. George Tyler "made by the Judge [David Sewall] of the District and directed to be transmitted to the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States." George Tyler had been fined four hundred dollars for transporting rum and sugar to Deer Island. It was suggested that there was reason to believe "that the acts of congress, respecting duties of Import and tonage were not at that period there known."
