Wishes she had psychic ability so she would always know what he was doing. Scolds him for his lack of correspondence and wonders if a certain woman has been occupying his time. Assures him that she will not be going sleigh riding with Mr. G any time soon. Discusses James and Lori (possibly a brother and sister-in-law) and his plans to mine gold in California. Wonders if he is waiting to hear from her. Mentions having two teeth extracted without chloroform and how brave she was. Has decided to hold off on anesthetic until she has four removed. Ponders the possibility that Everett has died or married someone else. Reports that one of her clan is getting married and will not tell him if it is her. Writes to her friend using a new pen she is sure will make a difference. Expresses her loneliness without him and says she only lives when they are together and apologizes for inquiring about a possible marriage. She plainly explains that she would like to know where their relationship is going and that if he was more communicative, it would prevent much mental anguish.

Writes that she is becoming increasingly anxious about his safety and worries constantly.
