Written in Union Hills (possibly near Arlington, Virginia). General Rodes writes to Jordan, Assistant Adjutant General of the First Division, Army of the Potomac (Confederate). Reports that in the absence of General Earl Van Dorn, his brigade (3rd), has been moved to a ford on the Occoquan River. Has sent his Assistant Adjutant General, Captain Whiting, "to ask if my brigade must continue to picket the road from Union Mills to [Langsters?]."
