At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Title: to Aunt Libby & Parker

One letter addressed to Aunt Libby and Parker from Richard dated September 10, 1945. Thanks her for the photographs of themselves and his girlfriend, Florence. Looks forward to the day he is out of the Army. States plans for her to either find an apartment before he returns or for her to join him where he is stationed. Written at Camp Stoneman.
