In florid prose, Peabody appeals to Langdon's patriotism in order to enlist his support for the War of 1812."Our enemies are in our bosom." Recalls their service in the revolutionary war and seeks Langdon's attendance at an assembly to organize support for the federal government. In a postscript, comments on the Essex Junta's plans to lead New Hampshire and Vermont to secede from the Union and attempt to establish an eastern confederacy.
