Brothers Livingston and Alexander ask Robert, Jr. if he will assist Elisha Sheldon in settling his account with them. Followed by a postscript signed by William Alexander, in which he implores Robert, Jr. "not to let me want this that you engaged to furnish," as he is expecting an important visit from Governor Shirley. Livingston & Alexander hope that Elisha Sheldon will follow through on his deal with Robert, Jr. They also note that they "hearily pitty the Distress the Fronteers are in & wish we had it in our power to give them relief."

Title: to Johnston Livingston re: Johnston's failure to correspond

Apparently written by a sister of Johnston Livingston. She chides Johnston for failing to correspond with either his sister or his parents, who have gone to great ends to provide for him while he is away at college. She also notes that his last letter contained a number of grammatical errors, and she invites him to improve his writing skills by corresponding with her more frequently. The remainder of the letter gives an account of the family, including their sister Sarah and her children. Address leaf on p.4.
