Title: to Sydney Lord Godolphin, Treasurer re: reimbursment of funds for victualling

Livingston petitioned Sydney Godolphin, Lord high Treasurer of England, to be reimbursed for the victualling of "2 of the Established Companys at New York for four months," from 25 December 1699 to 24 April 1700. On p.2 Livingston enumerates a list of proofs for his claims and refers to government reports to account for the interest he has charged.

P.1 lists the different sums of money paid to individual soldiers at Albany. P.2 contains a memorandum of 15 August 1698 noting the delivery of rum to the Indians of the five nations.

Title: to Arent Bratt re: case against John Barnard

The document outlines Christopher Estrat's complaint against John Barnard, who allegedly agreed to lease a piece of land to Jan Baptist and Estrat for 7 years, but then ran Estrat off of it before the lease expired. Estratt is therefore suing Barnard for damages. Livingston's description of the case is then followed by a note from Barnard to Arent Bratt, in which Barnard asks Bratt to attend his case at the Court of Common Pleas.

Title: Charter of Albany

The document puts forth a number of policies regarding how the city and county of Albany ought to operate. It states that trade with Indians will remain an exclusive privilege of the town's residents, that the people must consent to being taxed whenever necessary, and that hunting passes may not be issued. It also lays the ground for the formation of a body politic, and mandates the issuance of land patents to residents. Finally, it states that the area of land called Schachkook will remain in the possession of the Indians that live there. Docketed on verso.
