Title: The Timber Supply
The danger of over consumption of timber is serious. States east of Ohio generally have denuded forests. The west and northwest up to the Rocky Mountains are "all chiefly prairie and an almost treeless territory," depending on the east for wood, particularly Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. He examines timber in the Pacific West and in Canada. Inserted is an advertisement by F. L. Ricketts for the North Mountain House in Ganoga Lake, Shickshinny P. O. Luzerre Co. Pa. dated 1879.
