Letters to the Society of Cincinnati asking for aid. Lamarquisie (also "de la Marquisie"), a Frenchman who had served as a captain of engineers in the Continental Army, asks the Massachusetts Society of Cincinnati for financial aid. The former officer, "persecuted in France during the Revolution," writes that he needs money to travel from Boston to Philadelphia, in order to pursue his memorial before Congress.
