6 January 1794
Jackson, Henry, 1747-1809
Autograph letter
Title: to Henry Knox
Heard that Dr. Appleton leaves today by stage for Philadelphia. It is rumored that his father "has sent on by him to resign his office as Loan Officer in this state - and from the influence of the Father, the son expects that appointment." Jackson thinks that David Cobb should be considered. If Cobb does not like the loan office, a shift in personnel should provide an opening he does like. Wants Cobb considered first, "but after him I wish you to think of me."
