Permit allowing John Buffington, master of the ship Marquiss de Lafayette at the port of Salem, Massachusetts. Lists the number of cases, barrels, bales, etc. that he will be unloading. Signed by Hilton as a Naval Officer. The Marquis de Lafayette was a privateer ship.

Partly printed. Hiller, Collector of Customs for Salem, authorizes Jacobs to take ballast and stores on board. Indicates that the Sally is bound for Saco (present-day Maine).
