Title: to Henry Knox
Written by William Hawes, a Captain of Artificers. Mentions that he called on Knox while in Philadelphia, but Knox had already proceeded on to West Point. Reports that the Minister of War [Benjamin Lincoln] has ordered thirty artificers to continue working at Springfield, and has given Hawes directions for them. As part of his instructions, he is to bring Knox any articles he needs. Reports on the progress of the construction of the magazine, as well as the use of leather for harnesses and pouches.
