25 May 1814
Hatch, Solomon, 1784-1865
Autograph letter signed
Title: to John Bryant
This letter from Hatch to his brother in law, John Bryant, quotes a short letter, in full, from Secretary of War John Armstrong to Captain John Bryant (the recipient's father) indicating that he was being removed from his position as Master of Ordnance and Assistant Military Storekeeper at the armory in Springfield, Massachusetts because the post was no longer "necessary to the public service." Hatch adds that "Father bears it apparently pretty well, altho' his health is not quite so good as usual." Captain Bryant had asked to keep his position (see GLC03432.115).
