Writes, "I received a tickett from you just as I was setting out from N York, & had not then time to answer it. I am sorry it is not now in my power to say any thing certainly on the subject matter of it. We yesterday had an audience before the Assembly, but have had no answer, neither can we form any conclusions as to what will be the result of our Embassy. A bill for paper money, including a right of tendering, is before the Upper house and will be decided on in a day or two; it is said the Council are nearly divided in opinion on this important subject."

Discusses General Weedon being recalled to military service by the Continental Congress, claiming that "you must look upon a call at this particular Crisis, as a very decided testimonial of the good opinion of Congress." Agrees with Weedon's ideas about recruitment. Suggests that "The rejection of the resolution of Congress respecting finance was a fatal stab to the independence of America." Co-signed with William Trent on verso. Witnessed by Francis Lee, Cornelius C. Roosevelt, and an illegible name. Legal agreement made for the transfer of ownership of Indian land. Made between Colonel William Grayson, a wealthy Virginia landowner and Revolutionary hero of the Battle of Monmouth (and a future Congressman) and Major William Trent of New Jersey in which Trent will sell "Nine Hundred Shares or three Votes and the Lands which the said Nine Hundred Shares or three votes entitles a Person to in the Retribution Grant made by the Six Nations to their Traders at Fort Stanwix" in 1768.…

Grayson signs as a Commissioner of the Board of War. Docket appears to be Samuel Shaw's hand, thus it is likely this document was directed to Henry Knox. "The Board have directed the estimates to be made out immediately of the articles necessary to be purchased also of the transportation..." Assures Knox the Board will do everything in their power to facilitate the measures of George Washington.
