It also encloses a brief history on Oliver Wilder and an account written by Daniel Chesebrough in 1835 about a military encounter in Ireland in 1637. The documents are copies of the originals.

Gordon traces his ancestry several notable historical figures, including Emperor Charlemagne and Arnulf, bishop of Metz. It also talks about the subject of geneology in a more general way, speculating about the number of ancestors people have as well as how long pride in ethnic heritage maintains itself.
