Reports that the "Garrisons at Kings ferry are much in want of repair's." Encloses a list of the ordnance on hand as well as the items they need (not included). Describes Captain [possibly Gershom] Mott's Company and declares that they are otherwise employed and cannot help him; asks for a "command of musquetry" to help. Mentions also that VerPlank (the camp at Verplank's Point) is in similar circumstances. Writes: "...which small number will not allow me a Centinel over the Cannon - nor be able to work the pieces should action Require - the Infantry are two [sic] weak to afford me…

Captain Lieutenant Fenno reports the results of his investigation, ordered by Knox, into stolen items at two garrisons. Relates that stores at Verplanck, New York, were deficient. Asserts that it is impossible to indicate who took the powder, which was stolen long before it was missed. Adds that boards and a lock and key are needed for the magazine [at Verplanck]. "Public service" written on address leaf with no signature.
