Financial document signed by Ellsworth as a member of the Connecticut Pay Table Committee. The committee was responsible for Connecticut's finances during the Revolution. To Connecticut Treasurer John Lawrence. Payment of four pounds, 18 shillings, and eight pence is for Simeon Brooks and Giles for delivering saltpetre. Note, signed by Cornelius Higgins, says the payment was received. Another document signed, signed by John Treadwell, says the payment was audited on 1 September 1777.

Receipt requesting Lawrence to pay Captain Eliphalet Bulkley 1800 pounds, nine shillings, and nine pence for the balance due his company in Colonel Erartus Woolcott's regiment. Also requests payment for the service of two doctors, Augustus Mather, and John Watrow. States that all should be charged to the State. On verso there are two notes, both dated 18 January 1777, signed by Eliphalet Bulkley stating that he received 150 pounds, the other signed note stating he received 862 pounds, 4 shillings. Requests payment of 180 pounds for Chappel to enable him to raise a crew of seamen for naval service on the lakes in the north which should be charged to the state of Connecticut. Signed on reverse by Chappel stating he received from state Treasurer John Lawrence 180 pounds on 17 August 1776. Audited by J. Treadwell on 1 September 1777.

Written by Ellsworth as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to King as American Minister to England. Ellsworth was selected by Adams as one of three peace commissioners that was sent to France in 1799. The team of diplomats successfully negotiated the Treaty of Mortefontaine, which freed the United States from its treaty obligations dating from the Revolution. Ellsworth developed a kidney ailment afterward and was in Bath trying to recover his health. Thanks King for sending him a packet of information. Ellsworth, a Senator from Connecticut, reports to his wife, who he calls "Nabby," concerning the first Presidential election. States that "the Votes for the President-& Vice-President are not yet opened, but there is no doubt of-General Washington's being chosen to the first office & Mr. John Adams of Boston to the latter." States that a public building was erected and finished for the new national leaders.

Title: [Connecticut document ordering payment for guarding, moving & feeding Continental POW's]

Co-signed by Hartford mayor Thomas Seymour and Connecticut Treasurer John Lawrence. Countersigned by Moses Kimball on verso when he received payment and E. Plummer who audited the payment. Seymour and Ellsworth were members of the Connecticut Committee of Four, also called the Pay-Table, which handled finances for Connecticut during the Revolution. This document provides payment to Moses Kimball for the purchase of saltpetre. Also gives Kimball money to pay Prosper Whitmore for guarding, transporting, and feeding Continental prisoners.

Receipt is to pay Brigadier General Joseph Spencer 150 pounds, as he is paymaster of the First Company of the Second Regiment that is to be raised in Connecticut. To Johnathan Lawrence, Treasurer of Connecticut. Written by Ellsworth as a member of the Pay-Table Committee, which was responsible for Connecticut's finances during the Revolution. Receipt says to pay slightly over 51 pounds to James Rice by the hand of Peter Colt for building and fitting the Row Galley "Whiting." Countersigned on verso by Isaac Beers saying he received the money for Rice. On verso, one of the dockets states that the payment was audited on 1 September 1777 by E. Plummer.

Wilcox purchased the arms for service in Captain Elihu Humphrey's Company. Willcox (spelled Willcocks) dockets this receipt 2 August 1775, confirming receipt of the sum. A separate docket indicates that this receipt was audited 13 May 1776.
