Both he and his wife send their sympathies to Knox and Mrs. [Lucy] Knox possibly over the death of one Knox's children. States, "We, also, have only three children left." Discusses the lime business and its fluctuating price. Mentions he can pursue business adventures since he is no longer an agent for the bank. Also, provides a small extract of a letter written from the Commissioner's report to the President of the United States [John Adams] regarding the number of dwelling houses [likely in Washington D.C.].

Provides account information for the vessel (Dr means Debit Record), listing individual balances of the firms or persons invested. Indicates a fifth share pertaining to Colonel Moses Little, who does not sign. Discusses damages, expenditures, and the division of costs and profits. Agreed to and signed 15 March, though partially recorded 26 February 1776.

Dalton orders Price to inform all eligible voters to attend a meeting about fulfilling the town's enlistment quota and about cannons given to the state. Letter signed by Greenleaf, Marsh and Dalton as the selectmen of Newburyport. Verso signed by Price, and states he has informed the townspeople.

Informs Varnum of Mr. Swett's rejection of the position in the Office of Deputy Collector in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Sevett "thought it incompatible with his present office to undertake the business." Dalton expresses regret for not being able "to have met your wishes, and to have rendered Mr. Sevett any service." Date of letter reads "29th Decem 1813" however, docket date reads Dec. 29, 1814.
