Lists the names of soldiers, and includes their signatures or marks confirming receipt of payment for service 28 February 1874-30 April 1874. States that the 24th is led by Colonel J. H. Potter. A note written across the printed text of the muster roll indicates that the soldiers of Company E were paid 9 May 1874. Written at Fort Brown.

States that Sterling, an African American Private in Company E, 24th Infantry Regiment, enlisted at Fort Griffin, Texas 15 January 1870, and is now discharged by reason of an expired term of service. States that Sterling was last paid by Major J. W. Nicholls, United States Paymaster.
