Indicates that he is satisfied with Mitchell's actions against the superior British forces. Discusses military plans and mentions the location of the enemy fleet, directs an express be established. "…with this reinforcement you will be able to make the enemy pay dearly…"

Near the beginning of the War of 1812, Brown advises Colonel Bellinger that they should be more prepared before they attack the vessels Bellinger mentioned previously. Concludes with an exhortation: "Let us do my dear Coll. what our Country expects of us - be prepard [sic] to defend our Country at any moment."

General Brown forwards $300 to pay interest on a bond. Notes that his quarters are good and that supplies are coming to his town. Indicates that he is not worried by the enemy forces in the vicinity and welcomes an attack, because it would "give me another chance for acquiring military reputation and of promoting the honor...of my Country." In a postscript, seeks Newbould's candid opinion of the army.
