Title: to Benjamin Stevens

Bowen states that he has received a request from Stevens to supply rations to Rhode Island troops. Stevens is instructed to only answer orders from Bowen or Lieutenant Colonel Olney regarding supplies for troops. Jabez Bowen was Deputy-Governor of Rhode Island from 1778-1786.

Title: [Order to pay Colonel William Barton six thousand pounds from the Rhode Island General Assembly]

Sent to Joseph Clarke, the General Treasurer of Rhode Island. The money was owed for Barton's efforts "recruiting his light corps." A note from Barton on the verso dated 24 June 1779 indicates he received the payment.
