On 9 November 1760 Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Massachusetts Bay Thomas Hutchinson warrants that Cushing has taken the oaths required for the office. With paper seal of the province. Sir Francis Bernard was Royal Governor of the Province of Massachusetts Bay from 1760 to 1769. One bust engraving of Francis Bernard and one bust engraving of Thomas Hutchinson included.

Writes that he has been waiting to hear about Flucker's son's commission, but has not yet. Is very unhappy about the status of Colonel [Thomas] Goldthwait's application to settle the town of Frankfort, in the Waldo patent, and discusses how it contradicts his wishes. Accepts his offer of a land grant.

Partially printed document signed by Bernard as Massachusetts governor and Andrew Oliver as secretary. A manuscript note on the verso, dated 13 November 1760 and signed by Jacob Wendell and James Bowdoin as members of the governor's council, affirms that North took the oath of office. Features paper seal.

Title: Francis Bernard, Esq.; Captain-General and Governor in Chief, in and over His Majesty's Province of the Massachusetts-Bay in New England, and Vice-Admiral of the same. A Proclamation for a general Fast.

A proclamation in the name of Francis Bernard, Governor of Massachusetts Bay, which announces a day of fasting during the French & Indian War. The top of the document is marked with a printed Royal engraving that contains the notation "Dieu et Mondroit", meaning 'God and my right'. The engraving recognizes King George III and his divine right. The document was printed in Boston by John Draper. On verso there is a handwriten note "Fast April 22, 1761" in the upper right corner.
