Later copy. Sends acknowledgement that President George Washington received Mifflin's letter. Discusses the implications of a plan drawn up by the Legislature of Pennsylvania, to create a settlement at Presque Isle. Express his concern over how the settlement would impact relations with the Six Nations. Reports Washington decided to suspend the plan to create a settlement at Presque Isle for the time being in an effort to keep the peace with the Six Nations.
