Civil War broadside advertising a raffle and engraving sale organized for the Riverside Institute, which provided "a home for soldiers' and sailors orphans." The prizes, whose values are listed only, "consist of Works of Art, Painting, Statuary, &c." Orders to be made to George A. Cooke.

Receipt written by Captain Titcomb for moving his company of 53 men. The company was in Colonel Jacob Garrish's regiment. Titcomb's men were stationed at Winter Hill, which is outside Boston, to guard the Convention Army, which consisted of captured British soldiers from the Saratoga Campaign. His men are being paid mileage. 27 of his men marched from Winter Hill to Amesbury, which is 50 miles, and received over 16 pounds. 26 of his men marched from Rowley to Amesbury, a distance of 35 miles, and received over 11 pounds. Signed note by Chapman on verso states he received the wages. Dated 9 June 1778 in Amesbury, which is spelled "Almesbury" by Chapman.

Apologizes for the short letter, but business and the impatience of Webb's brother, who is going to deliver the letter, forced him to write quickly. Postscript says to remember him to the family and Giles. Red wax seal partially extent.

Broadside says that the 4,240 troops apportioned on Massachusetts was not a sufficient quota to fill out the Massachusetts Line by nearly 1,000 men. Because of casualties and this shortage, the state needs to raise another 1,500 men for three years or the duration of the war. The schedule is broken down by county and further into the quota for each town. Totals provided for each county.
