Describes in detail the harsh treatment endured by prisoners of war and the destitute condition of the returned Union prisoners: "The evidence proves, beyond all manner of doubt, a determination on the part of the rebel authorities, ... to subject those of our soldiers who have been so unfortunate as to fall in their hands to a system of treatment which has resulted in reducing many of those who have survived and been permitted to return to us…

Contains five foldout maps between pages 26-27 of Keyham and Devonport, two of Cherbourg, Portsmouth, and the extension of Chatham Yard. Dated from the date it was ordered to be printed. Appears to have been pulled from a larger book.

Title: General orders no. 151

Celebrating the Union victory at Corinth and explaining "the magnitude of the stake" involved there. "The possession of West Tennessee, and perhaps even the fate of operations in Kentucky," had depended on this victory. Says his army had been outnumbered two to one, lists dead and wounded on both sides, and thanks his men. The Battle of Corinth was not as decisive a victory as Rosecrans claims, and the Union was badly outfought on the first day. However, they rallied and were able to prevent the Confederates from achieving any strategic objectives, and did force them to retreat.

"I am very sorry to hear that the Rebels are in Pennsylvania But I hope the men will be Patriots enough to turn out and Chase or Drive the traitors from our soil...I think if our government would take more interest to how they used the Poor Soldiers and less these stinken old worn out Negroes for the Rebs to feed and take that which to give to the Negroes I think this war would a great deal quicker get settled…
