Document relating to Knox's attempt to purchase a large portion of the Waldo estate. Part of the estate is being given by William Wetmore to Sarah Waldo, as payment for a debt, and will then be sold to Henry Knox. Signed by Knox on the second page, also signed there by Sarah Waldo and William Wetmore, and signed and witnessed by Samuel W. Bayliss and William Lewison. The third page is a later note, dated 29 September 1794, stating that the pact has been completed, and signed by Sarah Waldo and William Wetmore.

Title: Copy of journal kept while on a tour, surveying the Waldo Patent

A journal taken while surveying the Waldo patent, along with Captain Jonathan Hill, Surveyor, for Henry Knox. Written in various locations throughout Maine. Contains "A General description of the land - the Situation - the Various Soils, Timber Rivers Ponds and Principal Stream upon the Patent." Notes that they are being prevented from surveying the shore near Ducktrap by Samuel Ely and his disciples, under the threat of severe punishment. Last entry dated 12 August 1793.

Agreement between Knox and "the twenty associates" represented by Charles Barrett regarding lands in the Waldo patent. Establishes the boundaries of the lands owned by the associates, and lists other rules reragding this property. The twenty associates were the group that initially owned the Waldo patent, with Samuel Waldo being a member. Also signed by Charless Barrett, David Cobb, John Wills and Thomas Cobb.

Discusses Knox's division of the Ducktrap plantation and "beg[s] leave to acquiant [sic] you that we the said Subscribers would wish to have the said division incoporated into a Town and we would further respecfully intimate to you that it is the wish of the Major part of the said settlers that it be conporated by the name (Knoxtown) and flatter ourselves if it is agreeable to you that the General Court can have no objection to grant our request ... Battle at Fort Bowyer, Mobile Point [Ala.]: " A combined British and Spanish force, with 500 or 600 Indians made an attack by land and water on Fort Bowyer in Mobile Point, the battle was tremendous, and continued until about 12 OClock at night when a ... vast explosion took place [destruction of British warship Hermes]". Colonel Hynes was a Nashville merchant. Jackson spells his name Haynes on the envelope.
