Title: Bond to the city of Albany

The document states that Ben Robertson and Hendrik Willemse are bound to the people and city of Albany for the sum of 50 pounds. It then goes on to explain that the two men have a pass from the Governor to trade with the Indians of Ottowa, and if they decide not to trade with the Indians of the 5 Nations for peltry, then the current financial obligation will be declared void. Both Robertson and Willemse signed with their marks.

The Mohawks, Oneidas, Onondagas, Cayugas, and Senecas give separate replies, ye they all relate to similar issues. Each group discusses their resolve to go to war with the Turchturicks, and their wariness of consorting with the Governor of Canada. They also thank Corlaer for guns, powder, and priests; and they also agree to apprehend any individuals found trading without the Governor's pass, and take them to Albany.

The Cayugas Sachems state that they have come to Corlaers house for counsel, and to refute the Oneida's accusation that they are responsible fo the mischief caused in Virginia. They relate their fears of the French in Canada, and ask for powder and protection for their women and children. In their response, the magistrates of Albany instruct the Cayugas to send their women, children, and elderly to Albany for protection. They also guarantee the Cayugas corn and powder, and offer their assistance in the event of an attack. Docketed on verso.

Thomas Dongan reprimands the Governor of Canada for inviting Indians of the 5 Nations to Cadarachqui in Canada, and warns the Governor not to allow his Christian Indians across the border to lure the 5 Nations away. P.2 and 3 contain a proposition from Dongan to the 5 Nations, dated 14 July 1687, at Schenechtady. In the proposition, Dongan assures the Indians that he has only corresponded with the Governor of Canada on their behalf, and also promises the 5 Nations any supplies or ammunitions they may need during their conflict with the French. He then informs Lord Effingham that in order to secure the surrounding counties, the Council granted them commissions to build up their militias, which he hopes meets with the Lord's approval.
