A list of white victims is included. A commentary opines that northern enouragement of such revolts can do no good and will only "render one portion of our country a vast aceldma of blood." A stereocard of the Patriot Publishing Company. Description of the photograph reads "A group of Union dead on the right of the federal lines on the first days' fight, July 1, 1863. These soldiers were killed by one discharge of "cannister" from a Rebel gun during a charge. "Cannister" is a tin can filled with small balls about the size of a marcle. Reports on new regulations for the Quartermaster's department on p. 2 including officers to be appointed, and the pay and supplies given for the different ranks. Also prints "An Act to Prevent any New Independent State within the limits Commonwealth," on p. 3, first column, which states that any attempt to form a new government within the state will be considered treason.
