It contains handsome images of great Civil War leaders such as John F. Reynolds and William J. Hardee. The photograph of a cocky, clean-shaven Cadet George A. List of dry goods Washington ordered for his plantation. Includes blankets, buttons, and cloth. Most of the items are material for blankets and clothing for his slaves. Asks for "6 pieces of the largest - thickest and best striped Blanketing for negros. - these pieces generally contain 15 or 16 blankets each. -" This list was written two and a half weeks before Washington's death. Previous research stated that the paper has the watermark of George Washington's stationery, but this could not be confirmed. A partial watermark is at the bottom corner of verso.

A print of a photograph taken by Henry F. Warren of Waltham, MA of the White House. Probably taken on March 6th, 1865, as Warren photographed Lincoln at the White House on that date (Ostendorf no. 112 & 113). The photograph is of the Northern facade of the building, with the camera facing South-East. At center is a man in a uniform, with others lined up closer to the White House. It is a mounted albumen print. Printed beneath the photograph is "Photographed by Warren, Waltham, Mass." and much larger "White House, Washington, D. C."

A print of a photograph taken of the Grand Review of the Union Army on May 23rd, 1865. The photograph shows the north wing of the US Capitol building with the camera facing south-west. There is a large crowd in front of the Capitol, presumably soldiers, and the Capitol is decorated in funeral bunting. A flag flying on the roof is at half-mast. From the Gardner-Ordway collection, a small format (half stereo-card size) print (labeled on verso 1281 XXVI). An albumen print, unmounted.

A salt print of a photograph taken of the Long Bridge in Washington, D.C. circa 1862. The camera is facing nearly due south. The picture must have been taken before 1864 when a second bridge was completed shortly downriver, as it is not present in the photograph. As of 2017, the route of the Long Bridge is now part of the 14th St. bridge complex. One photograph entitled, "Simple fracture of the middle third of the left femur, united without deformity," taken by Charles Milton Bell dated August 1865. Image is of Lieutenant A. W. Starkweather of Indiana, who was thrown from his horse at Black and White Station, Virginia on April 28th, 1865, fracturing the shaft of his left femur. He was admitted to Armory Square Hospital on May 7th. Verso indicates that the photgraph was taken in early August,1865 and that "the case was selected as an interseting illustration of a successful result in a simple fracture of the femur."

Cotton election campaign banner with angle cut bottom. Reads, in three lines: "OHIO. UNION. LINCOLN." (possibly stenciled?). There is a star on each of three points on the bottom of the banner. The banner has holes at top and middle for fastening to staff or pole. The color has been described as "lilac" but has faded to a brownish purple. There are stains at center.
