The first part, dated 18 March 1785 in Boston, discusses the state Senate's recent rulings regarding the boundaries of the Waldo patent and subsequent petitions asking for different boundaries to be considered. The second part, dated 2 April 1785 in Warren, Maine, declares that the first part is a copy written by a Colonel Jones, Representative of the town of Bristole, and it is signed by William Lermond.

Declares that Hunt is writing as clerk of the ten original proprietors of the patent. States the details of the arrangement. Docket asserts that this document was sent to Knox by William Hunt, but that he did not sign it, and instead signed a later copy.

Urges him to come home and run as a Democratic representative in the fall. Letter is incomplete.
