Five House resolutions discussing St. Clair's failed expedition against the Indians in Ohio. Absolves St. Clair from the blame of the failure of the expedition. It was not a "consequence of any defective qualitites, or insufficient quatities of arms, accoutrements, or powder or other military stores furnished for the said expedition." Previously estimated date as 1 November. Writing is faded and pages are stained with four water stains. Letterpress copy.

Program for a fireworks display, showing the order in which the different fireworks will be set off and prohibiting other illumination in the city on the night of the exhibition unless specially authorized. Partially printed document signed by Clinton and his secretary Robert Benson. On verso is a note signed by David Humphreys, aide-de-camp of George Washington. The Council of Appointment approved the appointment of Stephen Griffin as ensign in the 4th Continental Regiment. He is to take over command of a company. The note on verso, dated from New Windsor, New York on April 2, 1781, says that General George Washington has given permission for Griffin to resign his commission. Depicts a menacing-looking Lincoln slumping in his chair writing the Emancipation Proclamation with his left foot sitting on top of a copy of the U.S. Constitution. Demon imagery is found throughout. The Statue of Liberty's head is covered by Lincoln's Scotch cap to simulate a baboon. Background has two paintings. One depicts the slave rebellion on Saint Domingo and the other John Brown as "St. Ossawotamie." Osawotamie is a reference to a battle at the town of Osawatomie, Kansas in August 1856 when some 250 border ruffians attacked the free-soil town. Brown defended the town with 30 men, but…
