Says Secretary of the Navy Southard is about to appoint a lieutenant to superintend the naval school just established on board the frigate "Guerriere" at Norfolk, Virginia. State the pay will be equal to that of a Lieutenant Commander. Informs Mayo he will be appointed if he desires the post.
