Hartsuff's unit, plus three artillery batteries have been put on standby near the reservation. Most of the trouble, in his opinion, can be traced to "a Messiah dance" [the Ghost Dance] that has taken root particularly among the Sioux. Written at the Pine Ridge Indian Agency
