In the letter of 19 December 1862, he discusses his experiences on the march with his troops. Key battle material relating to the Chattanooga Campaign appears in letters dated 21 and 28 September, 10 and 14 October, and 22 November 1863. Letter from 28 September also contains a drawing showing artillery positions at Chickamauga.
