Assures Morris of his continued confidence in him, despite the need to recall him from his position in Paris. Relates a dream McClellan supposedly had, in which George Washington reveals Confederate plans to him. Story claims that McClellan, shortly after taking command, had a dream where George Washington revealed to him that there was a traitor in his midst, and also showed him where all the Confederate forces were massed, which would allow him to easily win the war. This version was printed a few months after the original publication of the story. The printers are "unable to vouch for the truthfulness" of the dream, and it was most likely either apocryphal or completely fabricated by the author…

Shows the obstacles facing the Union's approach to Charleston, South Carolina in early 1865, including Confederate forts, bridges, encampments, and towns burned in January 1865. Charleston fell on 18 February 1865. This map was to accompany the 32nd U.S. Colored Troops attack on James Island on 10 February 1865 (See GLC06379). Aveleen was a Corporal in the 54th New York Volunteers.
