Says they discussed religion and William is "...a modle of a Christian man." Mentions a possible move to Wilmington, Virginia. Informs of constant shelling and dangerous conditions.

Comments "...this soldiering is hard harsh business." Complains about sleeping in water three to four inches deep and eating hard crackers and raw meat. Comments the march was very hard due to rain and mud. Writes abut one regiment "...that could catch a hog and kill it and cut it up and put in their haversack and not miss a step..." Informs of his nice quarters. Letter mentions only day and year but no month.
