Copy of terms of surrender of the convention after the Battle of Saratoga. Docket has copy marked as No. 12. The document has the four copied signatures of Lt. Col. Nicholas Sutherland, Capt. James Henry Craig, Adjunct General James Wilkinson, and Brig. Gen. William Whipple. Contains the 13 terms of surrender that General John Burgoyne accepted from General Horatio Gates. The terms were generous to Burgoyne and allowed his troops to leave the field "with the honours of War," and to march to Massachusetts where they would be paroled and eventually be returned to Europe. Claims that on the 10th of September, 1813, Elliot "did not do his duty" and Perry attempted to "screen Capt. Elliot from the injurious impressions made by his conduct." With a certification of oath by Justice of the Peace Weaver. At the Battle of Lake Erie, Stevens commanded the sloop Trippe.

Dayton's brother wanted a contract to provide rations for the three regiments in the year 1800, but McHenry fears he based his contract on the fact the three regiments would remain in New Jersey. Written shortly after McHenry's resignation as Secretary of War on 13 May 1800. McHenry wrote this report to his successor. He offered his resignation to President John Adams after an angry Adams accused him of working behind the scenes with Alexander Hamilton. Adams eventually selected Massachusetts Senator Samuel Dexter to the post. Report details instructions for the Provisional Army, created in the face of French aggression in 1798. Images include railroad personnel, locomotives, tunnels, and trestles. These photographs create an engaging image of railroading and small town New England. These photographs come from the William Clements Library.
