One St. Francis Medal owned by Robert L. Stone. The medal was carried by Stone on all of his bombing missions during World War II. During training at March Field, Bob and a fellow cadet drove to the Mission Inn in Riverside, California there was an international shrine of the birdmen. Once there they received the St. Francis medals. The medal is worn along the edges and on the rear as a result of Bob rubbing and carrying the medal on every mission and every airplane flight after returning home.

One document issued by the American Red Cross, dated January 21, 1942. The document is entitled "Statement of Policy Regarding Negro Blood Donors." Outlines a new policy that facilities are now "prepared here-after to accept blood donations from colored as well as white persons." The blood will be "processed separately so that those receiving transfusions may be given plasma from blood of their own race." The policy was issued by the Chairman of the American Red Cross and the Surgeons General of the Army and the Navy and approved by the Secretaries of War and the Navy.

The plane out of Geneva was delayed because of mechanical issues, but she reunites with Rod and has a steak dinner with him. Dorothy and "Mom" are there.

The primary objective was the reduction of the enemy at Brest and the Crozon Peninsula. No casualties directly from enemy fire; however, Private Wesley Pickett was killed from the premature burst of a shell. Once the reduction was completed, they marched from September 28 to September 30 to the Western Front at Plouider, a town north the Western Front at Lesneven. Four officers received decorations.

Barnes to the Adjutant General in Washington, D.C.The troops marched through France and Belgium at the beginning of October to a town near Weiswampach in Luxemburg. It was a very rainy month. A list of enemy materials the battalion destroyed and damaged are listed. Enemy action was focused on improving defense positions and sporadic bursts of artillery. Two casualties, but both were being treated for their injuries. Because of little enemy action, an emphasis was being placed on training. The Red Cross also visited to show a movie.
