It also identifies the location as "Petersbrug," however in the Photogrpahic History of the Civil War, Vol 2, p. 618, the scene is identified as Brandy Station. Evidence suggests Brandy Station is the correct location. Camp of A-frame tents, some with wooden doors and brick chimneys. Construction of tents suggests a winter camp. Since the armies in the field baked their own bread mostly, this bakery serviced only those troops around the capital. Washington became a major center for army services during the war. Numerous government repair shops and support facilities [some massive in size] employing hundreds of skilled and unskilled workers were established to keep the armies running. The building has a small sign that reads "Office of the Signal Officer of the Army." Fisher, born 1834, entered the military in 1861 and was attached to the Signal Corps. Captured by Confederate forces in 1863, escaped jail with 109 other Union prisoners in 1864. He was placed in command of the corps on December 26th, 1864.
