Writes to inform Waldo of the death of his father the previous December. Discusses the business his father had with Waldo's father, Brigadier General Samuel Waldo, who is also deceased. Asks Waldo to prolong the term of Palairet's land grant, which is expiring. Adds that his family has found itself in difficult financial circumstances following the death of Palairet's father. An unknown author writes on behalf of Samuel Waldo that he received Mr. Palairet's letter. Sends his condolences on the death of Palairet's father. Responds to Palairet's question about an extension on their land grant, that many of the heirs of Brigadier General Waldo are currently minors and therefore cannot collect on the grant at present. Adds that given the "disturbed state" of America at present, there is no need to worry about an extension of the grant. See GLC02437.09097 for a related document.

Title: A sketch of the undivided lands belonging to Brigadier Waldo and Heirs

The majority of the letter, written by an unknown author, contains an account of the Waldo patent lands, and refers to the primary heirs, Thomas Flucker, Isaac Winslow, Francis Waldo, and Samuel Waldo. Also contains an extract of a letter dated 9 November 1780 written by Joseph Peirce on a similar topic.

Docket attributes authorship of the answers to Benjamin Hichborn, but no author is listed for the questions. One question suggests that the author is an agent or executor for the estate, and therefore may be Henry Knox, Hannah Urquhart Harwood, Knox's sister-in-law, or a third party.

Urges him to come home and run as a Democratic representative in the fall. Letter is incomplete.
